Spotlight

This is my first attempt to draw on black paper. I used a white pen, so one might imagine that the approach is basically the reverse of the more normal black-pen-on-white-paper drawing skills that I have been honing. So for example, the pen has to mark highlights rather than shadows. It turns out that things are a bit more complicated than that!

The stage in the drawing was at a local Pub-in-the-Park event – the group I won’t name here (even though they were very good) since in this picture they are totally unrecognisable! You might notice the backs of several heads (already featured in the drawing of David) and also how many people in front are holding up phone cameras so that those behind can see better – or perhaps can’t see at all! A feature of modern staged events I suppose …
