St Michael’s Church – Betchworth

Another place where our art group meets to draw and paint in the open is Betchworth, and one obvious thing to concentrate our artistic endeavours on is the parish church. This is a quintessential rural parish church building that found recent fame as one of the film locations for the film “Four Weddings and a Funeral”, and more recently still as a church whose future was in doubt as there was no churchwarden to oversee the running of the parish.

The church building is surrounded by a large and peaceful graveyard, which from our artistic perspective gives a wide choice of vantage points from which to view the structure. This particular drawing is looking at the church from the southwest, which shows off the tower and two porches rather well.
