Bus Montage

Many buses in Sri Lanka have very fancy decoration – this one was I think the fanciest but there were many others that had been glammed up to a similar extent. I was told that they do this to get noticed and so attract extra passengers. I’m not sure if the paint jobs attract extra fares, but the buses are certainly very noticeable!

I originally thought I would draw this bus, but I very quickly decided that I was unlikely to do justice to whoever had painted the bus itself, so instead I decided to create a montage of the photo that I had on my iPad to get the picture that I wanted with the rainbow background. In the end I used two different apps, a vector based app to generate the background, and a pixel based app to crop the bus photo and to stitch everything together as one image. So this is neither a painting nor a drawing, but I have the image I was aiming for, so I’m happy with it anyway.
