Limes

I have become quite partial to limes of late, so a lime being cut open on a chopping board is quite a common sight in our kitchen these days.

I was quite keen to paint a lime that looked as if it had the taste I crave from the fruit. In all honesty I think this is still just an ambition, although the fruit I have drawn does at least look fresh. I was also intrigued by the tube of “Lime Green” that I have in my collection of paints, which one might imagine to be exactly the right colour with which to paint a lime! However, in reality my Lime Green paint was more the colour of a key lime pie than of a fresh lime. The fruits in the painting are therefore a mix of Lime Green tempered with some Paynes Grey paint.
