Hohenschwangau

There is a very pretty castle at Hohenschwangau (and of course another fairytale castle nearby called Neuschwanstein) – but this is the view from the castle, looking out over a swan (schwan to the locals) fountain – one of many swan motifs in the castle grounds.

I had intended this to be just a pen sketch, but in black-and-white the swan was virtually invisible! So I added a colour wash to show up more details, which seems to have worked. Unfortunately the wash also shows that I was using pens from two sets, and that one set of pens seems much more water-repellent than the other …
