I saw this handsome plant sitting in a corner of the greenhouse in the RHS Garden at Wisley. At the time I didn’t note the name of the plant – however the self-proclaimed AI on my phone seems sure that it is an Agave plant, which would be more at home in the arid regions of America than in a hothouse in Surrey!
The sketch was done quite quickly with a pen and crayons, which to me capture the spikiness, the height, the yellow and the purple of the plant. Sadly however the same AI which thinks the original photo is of an Agave plant thinks my sketch is a Puya plant. I’m not quite sure whether to be pleased that I have fooled an AI system, or to regard this sketch as an epic fail as I have clearly drawn the wrong plant!
