Backlit Crocuses

… or should it be “backlit croci”? The interweb seems to be divided on the correct plural of crocus. However, such grammatical issues are a mere side show to the main event here – which is that last week during seemingly continuous rainfall the sun actually made a brief appearance to light up the spring flowers in our garden!

I decided that bright colour was the key thing in this scene, so I opted to use acrylic paints applied (as always) with a palette knife. As a result I think the painting captures the colours of the crocuses/ croci better than the shape of the plants! But hey-ho, at least the image is striking, rather like the original bunch of sunlit flowers …
