I’m really not sure about this one!
The original pen drawing was done in the back garden of a cottage in Longtown, more or less an exercise in capturing perspective and different textures. So far, so good – except that the original drawing is rather pedestrian. Therefore, as I have already done with other so-so drawings, I decided to spice it up a bit with some colour. However, as I am also trying to make my art a bit more abstract, and as I still have triangles on the brain following some of my other recent drawings, the result is a bit odd.
Sometimes I look at this image and think it is quite good – but equally at other times I look and just wonder why I bothered! Is it good or bad? Perhaps, in keeping with my increasingly postmodern relativist outlook, it is both good and bad! Perhaps it is good news that since the colour was added electronically the original drawing survives intact, but there again is the original really worth bothering to look at …
