View of London …

… from Reigate Hill. Hence quite a distant view, in which only the tallest buildings in the city feature. Some would say that London looks better from this distance, although I wouldn’t agree – there are some very nice sights right in the centre of town. However, I rather liked the way that the horizon and the tree created a border around the city in this view.

In case you can’t tell, this painting was done using acrylic paints applied with pallet knives, which is supposed to stop me from putting in too much detail! I don’t feel that the painting is really finished, but equally I have decided that to add anything else to the scene risked ruining what was already there. So it is finished, simply because I have now put my paints and knives away!
