It has been a funny old summer, which seems to have gone on nearly forever. However, finally autumn seems to be upon us, so the colours are changing and the leaves are falling. I still get out walking quite often but, even though I still enjoy the views, these days I tend to spend more time looking where my feet are going, if only to avoid tripping over quite so often! So I spend a good deal of time looking at the forest floor.
Of course the leaves, husks and twigs on the ground don’t look quite like this, although I hope that the colours here are a good indication of the shades I see upon the ground. I have opted to go rather blocky and abstract in this image largely because in my mind it is the variety of colours, rather than the shapes, which really matter in this picture. I have also adopted this abstract style simply because with the drawing app I can without too much bother. A plus for this drawing – it looks almost as I imagined it would – and I can’t say that about all my doodles!
